Andrew W. Johnson Andrew Wall Johnson, 64, died of a heart attack at his home in Churchville. He was born on Staten Island, NY in 1949, the son of Felicia C. Johnson and the late Andrew Johnson of Bel Air. After graduating from Bel Air High School in 1967, Mr. Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as an air traffic controller in Saigon, South Vietnam. He worked in Ballistics for 32 years at Aberdeen Proving Ground before retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Chris C. Johnson and his wife, Lydia of Street; a sister Elise J. Smith and her husband Timothy of Bel Air; eight nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Run Church, 2546 Thomas Run Road, Bel Air, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Andrew W. Bohumil F. Zajicek Bohumil Francis Zajicek, age 96 of Baltimore, MD, passed away on May 14, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Chicago Heights, IL, he was the son of the late Bohumil and Victoria Psotka Zajicek. He had been employed for the State of Maryland where he worked as a draftsman at the World Trade Center in Baltimore. He was a member of the Czech and Slovak Heritage Association in Baltimore. He enjoyed being an artist with pen and ink, played the violin and loved his animals. Mr. Zajicek is survived by his nephew, Paul Gentes of Bel Air, MD. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Vera Zajicek Gentes. Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Bel Air, MD on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Services will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Harold L. Hubble officiating. Elizabeth Oliveto Elizabeth Aven Oliveto, 53, of Dayton, Maryland died peacefully at home at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Betsy was born January 14, 1960, in Wiesbaden, West Germany, to Lloyd and Clara Rubidoux. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Oliveto, whom she married on April 20, 1985; her two children, Peter and Grace; and her parents and sister, Kathryn Rubidoux of Grand Junction, Colorado. She is also survived by one nephew, Tony Rutherford and seven nieces; Katherine and Julia Plants, Caroline and Christine Rutherford, Alyssa and Kristen Lipcsey and Clara Oliveto. She is also survived by numerous brothers-and-sisters in-laws to whom she was very close, including Joseph Oliveto, Jean and Michael Plants, Teresa and Steve Lipscey, Nancy and John Fama, and J. Nicholas and Claudia Oliveto; and mother and father in-law, Joseph and Shirley Oliveto. Betsy graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, Maryland in the class of 1978. She was a long time resident of the Maryland-DC Suburbs and received a Communications degree from the University of Maryland in 1983. She was a convention planner and worked at numerous educational and trade associations in the DC area before joining the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2006 where she organized and directed the annual Regulatory and Information Conference. She worked at the Commission for four years where she had many friends before retiring in July 2010 due to her illness. She loved to read and enjoyed gardening and knitting, and worked diligently to improve her skills in the latter two. Betsy was an incredible person and loved spending time with her family, especially her husband and children, as well as her nieces and nephew. She was quoted as saying, "...Next to being a mother the most enjoyable role I have in life is as an Aunt." She also cherished her many friends that she easily accumulated over the years. We will terribly miss her, especially her positive and courageous attitude, her wonderful sense of humor, keen wit and passion for life. She was always able to see the best of everything and everyone. A private ceremony, celebrating her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be directed to support the work of Dr. Deborah Armstrong at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. Dorothy Schmid Dorothy Jane Schmid, 86 of Ellicott City, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Shangri-La Assisted Living, where she resided. Born September 5, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Richard E. F. and Una Kathleen Adams Schmid. She was a graduate of North Texas State College for Women, where she earned a bachelors degree. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the U.S. Army Special Services for over 30 years. She enjoyed calligraphy and was a member of both Her Nibs and the Chesapeake Calligraphers' Guild. Surviving are her niece, Jaquidon Devenport Kruger of Frisco, Texas, several cousins and numerous friends. George Lee Ensor George Lee Ensor died May 3, 2013, at Madonna Heritage from Parkinson's Disease. He was 81. Lee, as he was called, was born in Sparks and lived there most of his life. After attending Sparks School, he worked at Williamson Veneering Company in Cockeysville, and Black and Decker Manufacturing Company in Towson. He started working at an Esso station in Sparks. He later purchased the business and ran it as Ensor's Esso and other franchise names for more than 35 years. In the mid-1970s, he purchased the dealership rights of Parkton Exxon, which he maintained for nearly 20 years. After selling these businesses, he purchased and restored a country store in New Park, PA, and operated it as New Park Exchange, selling antiques, collectibles, and used furniture. Lee loved animals. Quietly and humbly, Lee rescued several stray cats and raised them, sometimes finding homes for them with friends and family members. He also enjoyed playing cards and in his youth was a ping-pong force with which to be reckoned. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Carlisle; a brother, Harry, and his wife Susan; and niece Sarah Ensor Pearce, and her husband Patrick; a great-niece, Lucy Pearce, and a great-nephew, Harrison Pearce. Michael J. Emery Michael John Emery of Laurel, Maryland, passed away on 12 May. He was born to Cathy and Randy Emery on May 19th, 1983. Mike was born, raised, lived, and worked on Main Street in Laurel, MD. He graduated from St. Vincent Pallotti High School and loved working at the Laurel Art Center with his Grandfather Leo. Mike will be remembered as a sweet and kind man, with a strong smile. He was a loyal friend, who loved to read, run, and spend time with his beautiful husky Lyla. He is survived by his parents, sisters, Lisa and Jessica, and his grandparents Leo and Joyce Emery. Visitations will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel, Maryland on Thursday, May 16th from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm. Olive B. Wood Olive Belvia Wood, also known as "Nee" was a long-time resident of the Keyser West Virginia area. She died Saturday the 13th of April in her daughter's home in Laurel, MD. She was born in 1922 in Hacker Valley, West Virginia. Nee was a stay at home mother of three children Larry, Pete, and Kay. She lived most of her life in the hills of West Virginia and attended church at The Apostolic Lighthouse located in Corrigan Ville, MD. She loved making crafts and candy, gardening, and cooking for her family. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her brother Millard Anderson and her sister Winnie Mace, her sons Larry and Pete Miller and her daughter Kay Lane. She had several grandchildren and two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Cross Creek Apostolic Church on May 25, 2013 at 11:00 am. Co l in L. Male Colin Lynford Male was born on July 17, 1956 in Baltimore Maryland. He died May 9, 2013 at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville, Maine. He was predeceased by his father Johnny Male, his mother Irene Mavis Male, and his brother Barry David Male. He is survived by his brother Johnny Male, Jr. and his wife Deborah Ann Clark of Oakland Maine and his niece Patricia M. Male from Boynton Beach Florida and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His life was changed forever in a car crash at age 19 and in spite of many challenges, he continued to beat all odds and was able to inspire the lives of all he met. He graduated from Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland and worked for the Harford County Courts for many years before moving to Waterville, Maine. There he spent much of his time at the Maine Center for Integrated Rehabilitation and volunteered at the Muskie Center. Colin is remembered for his infectious smile and never ending sense of humor. A special thanks to all the staff of Maine Medical Center CCU for their outstanding care and support. Services will be conducted in Maine on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Burial to be scheduled at a later date at the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery in Hickory, Maryland. Herbert Rogers, Jr. On May 10, 2013, Mr. Herbert H. Rogers, Jr.(84) of Bel Air passed away. He was a retired director, Vice President, and Loan Officer of Madison & Bradford Savings and Loan. Mr. Rogers was also a Senior Residential Appraiser, a life member of National Defense Association, and served his country as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the Navy Construction Battalion before his honorable discharge in 1954. Lewis Terry Hatcher Lewis Terry Hatcher, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret) of Hershey's Mill, West Chester took his last flight on May 3, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Theresa Rubert (Biesecker), dear stepfather of Wayne (Angela) and Bruce (Ann) Biesecker. Born April 27, 1923 in Bristol, Virginia to the late Grace and Thomas Hatcher, he is survived by his brother, Jack (Evelyn). His sisters, Irene Sherman and Sidney Peters and a brother, Herbert Hatcher, predeceased him. Mr. Hatcher was much loved by six grandchildren, David, Bryan, Jenna, Evan, Justin and Katrina Biesecker. He served his country as WWII copilot of a B-17 bomber with the 15th Air Force and completed 24 strategic bombing missions over Germany, Austria, Poland, Yugoslavia and Italy. On his 19th mission in 1945, he was forced to make a crash landing after the plane was crippled by "some of the heaviest flak ever encountered". They lost two engines and chose to stay with the plane and "nurse" it just over the border to allied territory. They were rescued by farmers, and handed over to the Russians who got them safely to an American mission. Terry was honored and featured telling his story in the Ken Burns film The War, which aired on WHYY-TV and is currently housed in the Library of Congress. After WWII, Terry graduated from University of Maryland (1950) with a degree in Business Administration. Having been "in love" with airplanes since the age of four, Terry built a career in aviation working thirty years for Page Beechcraft (now Page Avjet) selling corporate aircraft. He retired as Vice President of Sales for the Philadelphia area. Terry was very active in many aviation associations including Quiet Birdmen and The Aero Club of PA where he served as president from 1974 to 1984. He is a former member of the Union League of Philadelphia and Les Bons Vivants, a gourmet dining club. Relatives and friends celebrated Terry's life on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, Westtown, PA. Visitation began at 10 a.m. followed by the life celebration. Mary F. Watters Mary Frances Watters, age 83, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away on May 10, 2013 at Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frank Marshall Presbury, Sr. and Elizabeth Jarvis Presbury. She had worked for Daneker's Clock Factory in Fallston for 20 years, McDaniel's Seafood Company for 10 years which was also in Fallston, and for 20 years for the Harford County Sheriff's Office where she was a cook. In her younger years, she loved roller skating at Johnny's Sport Arena and liked to go to the Churchville Drive-In. She was a member of Fairview A.M.E. Church all of her life and was a friend to everyone. Mrs. Watters is survived by her husband, Lloyd W. Watters of Forest Hill, MD; sons, Robert Lee Presbury of Aberdeen, MD, Earl Presbury Hamlet of Edgewood, MD, Zachary D. Watters of Churchville, MD; daughter, Marcella of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Born in Harlan, KY, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Beverly M. McVey Kontos. She retired, after 23 years, from Bethlehem Steel where she worked as a Forklift Operator. Wayne Collins Wayne Henry Collins age 59 of Perryman died suddenly Friday May 10, 2013. Beloved son of Theresa Hammel and the late Zade Collins; loving brother of Betty Culpepper and fiancé John Kramme of Aberdeen; dear uncle of Kara and Christopher Culpepper both of Forest Hill; close cousin of Jerry Collier of Aberdeen. Wayne graduated from Aberdeen Senior High in 1972 and sold long term care insurance. He had the knack for selling and was a huge Ravens and Orioles fan. Wayne was a devoted son that loved his mother dearly and couldn't do enough for her. He was a devoted and special brother to his sister Betty. Wayne enjoyed gardening, making homemade wine and spending time with his family. He was the member of his family that always organized family gatherings and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends on Thursday May 16 from 5-8 pm in the family owned Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A. of Aberdeen. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Christine Reinke Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Carolyn Reinke, age 94 of the Mud Creek community, TN, were conducted Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, May 10, 2013 from 5 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Reinke passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Manchester, TN. She was born December 16, 1918 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Frank Suslik and Anna Oracki Suslik. In earlier years, Mrs. Reinke was employed as a phone operator and was also a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and was an animal lover. She will be greatly missed by her family including her beloved special dog, Suzie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Helmut Reinke, who passed away June 6, 1994; a brother, Edwark Suslik; a very special loving niece, Kathy Fortbaught; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Fortbaught. Survivors include her son, Chris Charles Reinke of the Mud Creek community, TN; two step-sons, Robert Martin Reinke and wife, Kathy of Catonsville, MD; and Budne Charles Reinke and wife, Diane of Wheaton, MD; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as three sisters, Frances Fortbaught of Baltimore, MD; Gertrude Luthy and husband, Fred of Washougal, WA; and Eleanor Suslik also of Baltimore, MD. Genevieve Miller Genevieve B."Gen" Miller (nee Scriba), age 95, formerly of Catonsville, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Catonsville, MD. Gen was born May 5th, 1918 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Henry Scriba and the late Genevieve Dove Scriba. Genevieve, "Gen" was 95 and spent most of her life in Catonsville raising 6 children, with the exception of the time living in France while her husband was serving in the military. Genevieve was employed by Kirk-Stieff Silver Company as a retail associate and worked a number of years in retail at The Hecht Co. She was an avid writer who enjoyed passing on her memories of her younger days living in Baltimore, having one of her pieces reprinted in the Baltimore Sunpapers. Gen was an active member of St. Joseph's Monastery assisting in the various church activities. Gen spent her final days in the excellent and loving care of the Sisters at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Catonsville. Predeceased by loving husband Grant W. Kathleen J. Petrasko Kathleen Joan (Peters) Petrasko, age 57, of Bel Air, MD died on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Born in Cleveland, Ohio she was the daughter of the late George and Kitty Peters. After graduating from Bel Air Senior High School 1974 she joined the Navy as a photographer and later continued her profession at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. An artist at heart she created beautiful Rosaries and a collection of her paintings were accepted into the American Visionary Arts Institute in Baltimore, MD. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by two sisters, Michelle Pigott of Tallahassee, FL and Sue Peters of Bel Air, MD. Following cremation, her ashes will be scattered by family and friends at locations dear to her heart. Donations in her memory may be made to Fallston Animal Rescue, 2725 Fallston Rd, Fallston, MD 21047.

Kenneth Brzuchalski Suddenly on May 12, 2013, Kenneth Robert Brzuchalski passed away. He was the beloved husband of Donna Brzuchalski (nee Hughes); beloved father of Nick Brzuchalski and his wife Shannon, Kristen Nelson and Jake Brzuchalski; devoted son of Dolores Brzuchalski (nee Mazan) and the late Benjamin Brzuchalski. He is survived by his sister, Jane Wasilewski. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc. 610 West MacPhail Road on Friday from 5 to 9 pm., with a funeral service to be held at 7 pm. A graveside service will be held at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:45 am.
