Benefiting the Columbia Festival of the Arts

The Summer Festival Encore Party held at the newly opened 18th & 21st in Columbia attracted 100 attendees and raised more than $25,000 for the Columbia Festival of the Arts.

The inaugural party was hosted by honorary chairs Steve and Lee Sachs; event co-chairs Alison Hickman and Suzi Padgett; and Steve Wecker, whose Wecker Hospitality owns the newly opened Prohibition-themed restaurant. Tickets started at $150.

Because of the generosity of the venue and supporters, the event was “the most successful fundraiser for CFA in several years,” according to Padgett, president of the board of trustees for the Columbia Festival of the Arts.

Making a statement

Caitlin Roscoe wanted to make the most of her recent purchase from a May trip to Toronto.

She originally wore her Joseph Ribkoff dress with a red ruffled overcoat and red derby hat at a Kentucky Derby-themed gala. She ditched the overcoat and added some sparkly touches to rework the look for the first Summer Festival Encore Party at 18th & 21st.

“I feel good,” she said amid a room of 100 attendees for the party. “I felt like making a statement.”

And make a statement she did.

She accentuated the off-the-shoulder details of the dress by putting her hair in a dramatic side bun.

She added classic touches with a pearl necklace and pearl and diamond earrings. Patent-leather wedges completed the look.

Roscoe, 33, a Columbia resident who works as a facilitator at Howard County General Hospital, said she attended the party because she is friends with a member of the Columbia Festival of the Arts.

“This is a great party,” she said. “I usually wear business-casual clothes — closed-toe shoes because I work at a hospital. Not anything like this.”
