Where’s your Howard County dream home?

Dennis Kemp Sr. dreams of building a spacious one-level home on a golf course, preferably at Hobbits Glen in Columbia. The interior would have five bedrooms—one would be located in a loft —and five baths, an office/library and plenty of room for his three grandchildren and cockapoo, Duke, to romp during visits. Outdoors, a comfortable entertainment area with a built-in grill and outdoor seating would face the green.

“Just sitting out there, watching the golfers on the beautiful green landscape of the golf course, would feel soothing to me, ”he says.

“I believe in the healing power of connecting to animals, and my dream home must have a place for my furry family,” says Robin Holliday of her dog and five cats. Residing on at least an acre near a natural lake or river, her rural property would house an animal sanctuary and a separate woodturning studio for Robin’s husband, Max.

Indoors, an art gallery filled with rocks, minerals and collected artworks, Robin’s own jewelry-making studio and a wood-burning fireplace would be bathed in natural sunlight pouring through skylights and a wealth of windows.

My dream home will always be where love resides, where memories, hopes and dreams are made and where friends always feel like they belong,” says Stacie Hunt.

Charmed by the bucolic feel of living in Columbia —close to work and to nature—she says she wouldn’t stray far from three beautiful ponds with walking paths connecting her to community life. A lovely porch and fireplace in a modest but warm and welcoming home would suit. But most importantly, her happy place would be a spacious kitchen that could serve as the center of gatherings for family and friends.
