Festive comfort

Retiree Mia Winkley always looks forward to the annual Holiday Party for the Columbia Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Winkley, 53, whose husband is a member of the historically black fraternity, attends each year.

“I think it’s good fellowship and camaraderie with the members and their families,” said the retired federal government employee who lives in Howard County.

The statuesque Winkley turned heads in her sleek, dressy jumpsuit. Surprisingly, she said, the ensemble was a stark departure from her typical garb of athleisure wear or jeans and a T-shirt.

“I was thinking comfort-meets-festive,” Winkley said with a laugh. “When you are 53, you learn a few things.”

The ensemble was most certainly comfortable as Winkley joined other attendees doing the Cupid Shuffle on the dance floor.

“I feel very comfortable,” she said. “It feels nice [to dress up]. I’m grateful to have a party to attend.”

Jumpsuit The black jumpsuit with sequin panel from Saks Fifth Avenue’s Black Label was purchased at one of her favorite stores, Nordstrom Rack.
