New home and furnishing stores to try

One is a big box store with a new presence in Columbia. Another is a combination decor and interior design business in Catonsville. This year has brought a number of new shopping options to area homeowners.

Domain

Interior designer Laura Hodges opened her home accessories and design store, Domain, in June in Catonsville. The 400-square-foot space offers a mix of locally sourced, fair trade and sustainable decor and one-of-a-kind pieces. In addition, Hodges says she offers products from international female artisan collectives. Prices range from $8 for a bar of soap to $750 for original art. The store will feature a line of decorative throw pillows hand-made in Baltimore called Spilled Paint. Maryland-made wood furnishings by Rustik Atmosphere are exclusive to the store. And Mount Royal Soap Co.’s natural skincare products are sold at Domain, too.
